Legends of Vanhyr
Andor is an old and proud kingdom, whose rulers claim direct descent from the last kings of old Vanhyr. Her first queen, Larissa Andorith, whose name survives to this day in not only her descendants but the land itself, led her people to freedom after the tragic civil war that divided her people. She never gave up her claim to the throne of the two kingdoms, and to this day her line still lays claim to the kingship of all men in the lands.
Larissa, unique among humans, was loved by an elf – a warrior named Llanren. Llanren’s clan, acting against the elven laws of non-interference in the ways and wars of men, sheltered Larissa and her people as they fled through what was once the northernmost stretch of the Hyrhuin Forest and over the South Flanks. For his crime (which opened up the possibility that the blood-thirsty sons of Maelgas would look upon the elves of Tir Aeldarr as allies of their foes) Llanren was exiled forever. Larissa gave birth to twin sons, whose line was blessed by the long lives and fair features of their father’s people.
The current ruler of Andor, Prince Haldren (the sons and daughters of the Andorith line vowed upon Larissa’s death never to take the title of ‘King’ or ‘Queen’ until the two lands were again made one) was born into a land where the fires of war were still smoldering. His father died soon after the treaty was signed (some suspected the hand of his own nobles in his death) leaving the infant Haldren in the care of his Council until he came of age.
